A competitive team for Tirreno-Adriatico

Saturday, 5th September - Tirreno-Adriatico 55th edition is scheduled from 7 to 14 September and will be raced over eight stages instead of the usual seven. This year’s route is well balanced and includes three stages for sprinters, two for “finisseur”, two for climbers, including an uphill finish in Sarnano-Sottotetto (14.2km at a 5.8% average gradient, peaking at 12%) and the 10km classic final individual time trial in San Benedetto del Tronto.

Sports Director Franco Pellizotti comments: “It’s a complete and balanced team. Hermann Pernsteiner will aim for the GC Top Ten relying above all on the uphill finish, while the fast wheels Ivan Cortina and Phil Bauhaus will have three chances to win with the support of Heinrich Haussler. On the other hand, Dylan Teuns and Mark Padun will be able to do well on the short and steep climbs of the Loreto stage, while Jan Tratnik will play his cards in the last stage with the time trial”.

“I will be at the “Tirreno” for the second time - says the young German sprinter Phil Bauhaus - and I will be at the start in Tuscany knowing that I am in good condition. I finished the Settimana Internazionale Coppi and Bartali with a pretty good 3rd place in the first stage, and I would like to confirm myself in one of the three probable bunch sprints in this 2020 “Race of the Two Seas”.

Team Bahrain McLaren line up for Tirreno-Adriatico: Ivan Garcia Cortina, Dylan Teuns, Heinrich Haussler, Mark Padun, Hermann Pernsteiner, Phil Bauhaus and Jan Tratnik.
